What is Telehealth?

Telehealth services are healthcare services provided remotely through telecommunications technology and can include assessment, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, monitoring, patient and professional health-related education, public health services, transferring medical data, and health administration.&nbsp;While providing a telehealth service, the provider and patient must have audio and visual contact. Telehealth services do not include emails or audio-only phone calls.

Is Telehealth available to State Employees?

Yes. A state employee enrolled in a State Group Insurance health plan (standard and high-deductible HMO plans and the PPO plan) may use covered telehealth services provided by health care practitioners acting within their licenses and Florida law.

Does Medicare cover telehealth services?

Yes. Medicare members are eligible to receive telehealth services. Do state employee healthcare benefits cover immunizations?

Yes, your State Group Health Insurance Benefits cover all immunizations recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Members can receive an immunization at their physician&rsquo;s office.

Is there a cost to State Group Insurance health plan members for immunizations?

There is no cost to the member for any immunization recommended by the ACIP. If the immunization is not recommended, the member may be responsible for up to 100 percent of the cost. If the immunization is provided in a physician&rsquo;s office as part of a non-preventive office visit, the member may incur an office visit fee. The amount of the office visit fee is dependent on the member&rsquo;s health plan, the healthcare facility, if the provider is out-of-network, and whether the provider is a primary care practitioner or specialist.
