Are all the providers at a network facility always network providers? 

Not all healthcare professionals offering services at a network facility are network providers. For example, an anesthesiologist, pathologist, radiologist or an emergency room doctor working at a network hospital might be a non-network provider. If you see a non-network provider&mdash;even if you have no choice in the matter&mdash;the non-network provider&rsquo;s services will be paid at the non-network benefit level.&nbsp;

Can members be covered by two state health plans?

No. Chapter 60P, Florida Administrative Code, does not permit an enrollee or dependent to be covered under two health plans simultaneously. Examples of what is not allowed include the following:<ul class="list-disc list-outside mb-6 ml-6"><li class="mb-2">Two married employees each enroll in a health plan and cover each other and/or their children under the other&rsquo;s plan.</li><li class="mb-2">A child who is covered under their parent&rsquo;s health plan goes to work for the State and enrolls in their own health plan.</li></ul>If you or your dependents are covered by two different health plans, call People First to correct the enrollment. One plan does not act as secondary insurance to the other, so you receive no added benefit by being dually enrolled and you may be paying more than you should.

No. Under the Affordable Care Act pre-existing condition limitations no longer apply.

I have individual coverage and I am expecting a baby. When should I add my baby? 

You have 60 days from the birth of the child to enroll in family coverage. The effective date of coverage will be retroactive to the beginning of the month in which the child is born and premiums will be due accordingly.

If I terminate my employment, can I keep my benefits? 

Yes. You may continue some benefits under COBRA. COBRA is a federal law that allows you and your covered family members to continue health, dental and vision coverage for up to 18 months if you are enrolled at the time of termination, and possibly longer under certain circumstances. To continue other supplemental plans, you must contact each supplemental insurance company for the continuation forms.

Telehealth services are covered for all primary care and specialty appointments. What is a Health Savings Account (HSA)? 

Associated with either the High Deductible HMO or PPO plans, this account allows you to use pretax dollars to pay your share of the cost for eligible healthcare expenses that are not covered by your health, dental or vision plans. Any unused HSA funds at the end of a year carry forward to the next year; you may also take unused HSA balances with you if you stop working for the state. When you are eligible for an HSA and have completed the necessary steps, the state makes a monthly contribution to your account (for active employees); you may also add your own contributions to your HSA.
