FRS Eligibility and Enrollment

As a part-time or full-time salaried employee you are a member of the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and may enroll in either the FRS Pension Plan or the FRS Investment Plan.

Exceptions

You are enrolled automatically in the FRS Pension Plan when hired. You receive a Retirement Choice Kit at home about 60 days after you are hired, and have until the end of the fifth month following your month of hire to choose between the FRS Pension Plan or the FRS Investment Plan. If you don't make a choice, you remain in the FRS Pension Plan.

To enroll

  • Online –  go to MyFRS; if you're logging in for the first time, use the Personal Identification Number (PIN) included in the Retirement Choice Kit, create a user ID and password.
  • Phone –  call 866-446-9377; use your PIN for this option too.
  • Mail –  download and complete the EZ Retirement Plan Enrollment form for your member class and mail it to the address on the form.

Deadline

The deadline for choosing between the FRS Pension Plan and FRS Investment Plan for your initial enrollment is 4 p.m. ET on the last business day of the fifth month following your month of hire.
